Just Like Us, the LGBT+ young people’s charity, took home the Charity or Community Project of the Year award at the DIVA Awards 2025.

On Friday 25 April the DIVA Awards 2025, hosted in London by Char Bailey and Megan Jayne Crabbe, celebrated LGBT+ trailblazers during Lesbian Visibility Week.

By public vote, Just Like Us won the Charity or Community Project of the Year award, which recognises an outstanding initiative or organisation dedicated to supporting and uplifting the LGBT+ community.

On receiving the award, Laura Mackay, Chief Executive of Just Like Us, said: “We are so proud at Just Like Us to work for a charity that empowers young people to use their voices and supports schools to be inclusive.

“Our 18 to 25 year old LGBT+ volunteers share their inspirational stories in schools across the UK, and as one of the many opportunities they have access to through volunteering, they also have the chance to write for fantastic publications. I want to thank DIVA Magazine for being one of those publications that elevates their voices, and allows their stories to be heard. In the current climate, elevating young, LGBT+ voices is more important than ever. Listening to our trans and non-binary young people is more important than ever.

“Just Like Us will continue working with schools to make sure that LGBT+ young people grow up feeling heard, safe, supported and confident in who they are. Thank you for this incredible recognition.”
