South Asian Heritage Month 2025: Free LGBT+ inclusive resources

Just Like Us

Published: July 18, 2025

Schools celebrating South Asian Heritage Month 2025 can download free LGBT+ inclusive resources from Just Like Us, the LGBT+ young people’s charity.

South Asian Heritage Month runs from 18 July to 17 August 2025, and is an opportunity for school communities to celebrate the diverse experiences, cultures and stories of South Asian people.

By signing up to Just Like Us’ resource library, schools can access LGBT+ inclusive resources that platform the experiences of LGBT+ South Asian people, and explore themes like representation, inclusion and expression.

These include a form time video resource from the CEO Bollyqueer dance classes, exploring the importance of LGBT+ inclusive spaces for cultural activities, alongside a lesson plan with class discussion prompts.

Another form time activity delves into the importance of representation, and encourages pupils to expand their knowledge of LGBT+ South Asian figures through a research project.

How to download free LGBT+ inclusive teaching resources for South Asian Heritage Month 2025:

If you are a staff member at a UK primary school, secondary school or sixth form college, you can access Just Like Us’ free resources by following the steps below:

  1. Sign up for free here.
  2. You’ll then receive an email granting you access to the resources.
  3. Then, browse and download resources in our school resource library.

Just Like Us’ school resource library offers free, LGBT+ inclusive resources across the curriculum, for all key stages from EYFS to KS5.

Independent research has found a link between positive messaging about being LGBT+ in schools and pupils having better mental health, regardless of whether the pupils are LGBT+ or not.

LGBT-inclusive environments at home and at school are also linked to better outcomes for LGBT+ young people, from their mental health to their relationships to their optimism about the future, that last into adulthood.
