Emergency medicine doctor and presenter Dr Ronx Ikharia (they/them) has become a patron of Just Like Us, the LGBT+ young people’s charity.

Announced on 23 June 2025, during School Diversity Week, the UK-wide celebration of LGBT+ equality in schools, Dr Ronx joins actor Jonathan Bailey and Paralympian Lauren Rowles as the charity’s third patron.

As well as working as an NHS doctor, Dr Ronx has presented TV programmes for both adults and children, and has worked hard to advocate for the career potential of all young people, whatever their background, and championed Black, trans and non-binary representation, living by the motto: “You cannot be what you do not see”.

Dr Ronx Ikharia said: “It gives me so much joy to say I am now a patron of the wonderful charity Just Like Us. I’m proud to play my part in raising awareness of the work they are doing to improve the lives of LGBT+ young people from all walks of life.

“No child or young person should ever have to be ashamed of who they are. I hope that by working with Just Like Us, we can build a better, brighter and kinder future for all young people.”

As a patron of Just Like Us, Dr Ronx will support all the charity’s to continue delivering its programmes. Just Like Us’ Ambassador Programme trains LGBT+ 18 to 25 year olds to speak in schools about allyship, their Pride Groups programme helps schools create a safe and supportive space for LGBT+ and ally pupils, and their free, inclusive resources are used by more than 8,000 primary and secondary schools across the UK. Just Like Us also runs School Diversity Week, the annual UK-wide celebration of LGBT+ equality in primary and secondary schools.

Laura Mackay, Chief Executive of Just Like Us, the LGBT+ young people’s charity, said: “I am thrilled that Dr Ronx is joining as a patron of Just Like Us. They are already an incredible role model to the young people we work with, and I know that their support will mean so much.

“Positive, accessible LGBT+ representation is something we offer through all of our programmes, so to work with someone who has valued and championed representation so tirelessly throughout their career is a true privilege. The entire Just Like Us team would like to thank Dr Ronx for working with us at this crucial time for LGBT+ equality.”
