Take part in the 190 challenge for LGBT+ young people

Just Like Us

Published: June 17, 2025

Young people spend 190 days at school every year.

These days should be safe and inclusive, but for many LGBT+ young people, sadly, they are not. Our research reveals a heartbreaking truth: 74% of LGBT+ pupils who have never had positive messaging from their school about being LGBT+ have contemplated suicide.

At Just Like Us, we are working to change this.

We believe every LGBT+ young person deserves to feel safe, happy, and proud of who they are at school. We provide vital resources to educators, and empower LGBT+ young adults to share their stories, promoting positive messaging and supporting inclusive school communities.

Join us in the 190 Challenge for 2025 and help us transform school days for LGBT+ young people across the UK.

What is the 190 challenge?

To represent the 190 days young people spend in school, we’re inviting you to walk 190 km! You can complete this challenge at your own pace, alone or with a team, any time until the end of August 2025. It’s a manageable goal, with 1km being roughly 1,400 steps, making it easy to fit into your daily life.

Ready to make every km count? Step up this Pride season and walk 190 km to help change the future for the next generation. You can do it alone or as part of a team!

Not a walker? No problem! You can also:

  • Run, cycle, swim, or hike 190km.
  • Create your own 190-minute challenge.
  • Or simply make a donation to support the campaign and LGBT+ young people directly.

Every kilometre and every pound raised helps us make schools safer and more inclusive for LGBT+ young people.

How do I take part?

  1. Choose Your Challenge: Decide if you’ll walk 190km, or do a different 190 km/190-minute activity.
